Weve had reports of candidate impact flashes on 2023 Aug 13 UT:

    00:50:05
    02:28:03
    02:29:01

by observers in Central Europe – if you did observe, please check your video recordings at these times
and let me know what you find.

All reports are provisional until they are confirmed by another observer and may have other explanations e.g. aircraft strobes etc.

    Thanks

    Tony

David – are those times GMT or BST, and roughly what was your geographical location. If you were observing from the UK the Moon would have been pretty low in the sky on that night. This would increase the chances of the explanation being due to a red flashing navigation light on a very distant aircraft, and you would not necessarily notice the aircraft if it were very distant. Impact flashes can also sometimes be red, but are really incredibly rare if they were to be seen against the illuminated side of the Moon.
