I got hooked on Astronomy aged 10 in 1958, inspired by Dan Dare, Sputnik and Patrick Moore. I have been dabbling ever since. I built my first telescope, a 100mm reflector by Ottway in kit form, in 1959. Over the years I have used a variety of telescopes, mainly observing solar system objects. The purchase in 2021 of a Unistellar eQuinox EVscope has propelled me into the world of DSO observing, opening up a vast new realm previously inaccessible from the heavily light-polluted skies that prevail here. As the (self-appointed) Director of Norbreck Observatory, which operates intermittently from a tool-shed in my garden in urban Cheshire, I am interested in most aspects of Astronomy. Clear skies!
