I have spotted another problem since the blocking software was installed. I have to be logged in to the website to see recent replies on the forum.
Not a big problem, but might catch out people who don’t stay logged in all the time, like me. I could see on the homepage that recent posts had been made, but not the post when I clicked on the topic.

RobinI only restart my MacBook every week or two and I sometimes stay logged in. I’ve not tested what happens if I shut down my Windows computer while logged in to the BAA website, but I would not be surprised if that logs me out.

AndyWith Chrome, I am logged out as soon as I close the tab. I do have an advert and 3rd party cookie’s blocker, though other forums eg Cloudy Nights, Stargazer’s lounge keep me logged in unless I specifically log out

RobinTo help handle the load, the site for non-logged-in users is cached, but will refresh every hour. So new posts will be delayed slightly from being shown.
For logged-in users, there is no caching, so you will see everything as it is posted.
You can stay logged in for 30 days before the session will expire.
@Robin On Chrome, for me, it keeps me logged in even when the tab is closed, so possibly third-party software could be logging you out.Thanks,
CallumI use several devices to view the BAA web page (phone, iPad and Windows PC) and using Chrome, I’m logged out immediately I close the page. This has always been the case – and it’s really annoying. If there is something lurking behind the scenes causing a ‘time out’ then it’s doing it on all devices, and only for the BAA.

It’s an odd one, Gary. I too am logged out as soon as I move to another tab (I don’t even close tab) on iPad and iPhone in Safari. Yet other websites retained me as logged in.
But I rarely have to login in my Macbook in Chrome. Which I much prefer.

When you log into the BAA site, it will use a cookie to keep track of your session. So long as your browser hangs onto the cookie, you’ll stay logged in, but the instant you lose the cookie, you’ll be logged out. There will be a time-out at the BAA end, but I think it’s a long time-out.
If you’re experiencing premature log-out, I think it’s almost certainly due to cookie-blocking software / settings in your web browser which is deleting the BAA’s cookies (for example, when you change browser tab/window) to stop us tracking you.

Looking at the BAA website cookies when I am logged in I see the “logged in” cookies but they are all set to expire at the end of the session (which is why I am being logged out) while others are not. If I compare with the cookies in Stargazers Lounge for example the similar cookies are set to expire in 3 months. Is this a browser setting or a website setting? AFAIK I have nothing specifically set up for the BAA website for this. Some websites have a feature where you can decide of you want to stay logged in or not. I don’t see that option for the BAA login but I am wondering if it has been set somewhere and is different for different members ?

I have just edited the expiry time on these cookies to a date in the future and I stay logged in

Aha, that is cunning, Robin. I tried without success in my iPhone and iPad.
AI tells me “iOS Limitations: Apple’s iOS and Safari do not provide a user setting to alter, extend, or shorten individual cookie lifespans or session timeouts.”
But if any iOS users have a work around, let me know.
I’m not convinced the cache refresh is working hourly.
If I’m not logged in, the latest post I can see is Paul Leyland’s from September 2nd at 5:04pm So over 24 hours ago.

Over the last couple of days on logging in I get the following message:
Forbidden (403)
CSRF verification failed. Request abortedI am nevertheless logged in when I then navigate to the homepage
