Thanks Callum
8 March 2022 at 9:00 pm #608383Callum PotterKeymasterHi Daryl, all…
It was held because it had 2 web links in the text.
I’ve increased the limit to allow 3 web links in a message, hopefully that will cover most instances.
Robin – I noticed your earlier messages in the pending queue – held for the same reason – at least that explains where they went.

8 March 2022 at 9:01 pm #607974Robin LeadbeaterParticipantI notice some content which was free access without login previously is now restricted. Is that a policy decision ?
eg in the past I have referred to these free access video presentations of mine on other forums

8 March 2022 at 10:06 pm #608387Daryl DobbsParticipantSeems no way to attach images to posts either, but I guess that’s a low priority
9 March 2022 at 7:45 am #608388Nick JamesParticipantWhy have such a low limit? Maybe increase it to 10 to be sure. If we start getting spam posts from members then we can handle that at the time.
9 March 2022 at 7:47 am #608389Nick JamesParticipantNot just images but files (PDFs, text files). We used to be able to do that.
9 March 2022 at 9:57 am #608396Jeremy ShearsParticipantIs it possible to have more posts on a single page? We are now on page 4 of this thread, so to get here, I click the relevant Forum thread on the front page, then need to click a second time to get to page 4 (that’s when I don’t get to page 3 when my large finger applied to my tiny iPhone hits 3 instead of 4).
Or the ability to go straight to the most recent post from the main page.

I’ve increased to 20 per page.
You can reach the last page by clicking on the time on the time in Last Post column of the topics table.

9 March 2022 at 12:38 pm #608400Robin LeadbeaterParticipantI don’t like the way if you add a link in a forum post to a page in the BAA website it embeds a huge screen shot of the page. How do I stop it doing that so I can just have the link embedded in the text? (The old system with full editing allowing choice of fonts and links with options to open in a new tab was much better IMO)

9 March 2022 at 12:57 pm #608402Jeremy ShearsParticipantThanks Callum. And good that the recent Forum posts are back on the front page 👍🏻
9 March 2022 at 12:58 pm #608403Robin LeadbeaterParticipantTesting embedding external links
http://www.threehillsobservatory.co.ukwould it be better to open these in a new tab ?

10 March 2022 at 10:59 am #608500Dr Paul LeylandParticipant“External Links”. Strongly agree with Robin on this one. I am always forgetting to right-click on external links.
10 March 2022 at 1:20 pm #608513William BristowParticipantWhat happened to the private message function?
Is the PM facility hidden away somewhere or no longer possible?
That was a useful way of contacting other members for conversations that would otherwise be of little interest to general readers.
I have been trying to find a way to contact @paul-leyland (was Xilman) off-forum with a download link for the latest ASCOM LazyFocus drivers which I know he is trying to find.
William.
Paul, if you read this, log-in to the ASCOM user forum and look in the files section for a folder called “EasyFocus”, in that folder is a RAR archive called “LazyFocus”, unzip that RAR archive to find the necessary LazyFocus DLL’s and a readme that describes how to install them and the Windows registry entry that you need to manually create.
This web address takes you directly to that folder on the ASCOM Groups.IO site: https://ascomtalk.groups.io/g/Help/files/Easyfocus
If you don’t have a Groups.io account and no access to the ASCOM users forum then open a new LazyFocus topic under the Imaging category here and I will post a link to that folder in my personal shared G-DRIVE folder.
10 March 2022 at 2:56 pm #608555Dr Paul LeylandParticipantThanks William.
I also can’t find teh PM link. Restoring it would be an extremely good idea IMAO.
LazyFocus: I wil check out your suggestion but I already have LAZYFOCUS.DLL and instructions on how to modify the registry for Win 7. The directory indicated doesn’t exist under Win 10.
Perhaps a fresh attempt might be more successful.
10 March 2022 at 3:04 pm #608556Dr Paul LeylandParticipantAh, the latest RAR file is markedly different from the one of several years ago. I am now rather more hopeful and will report back.
Thanks again.
Moderator: might this portion of the thread be better moved elsewhere, the equipment area perhaps?
10 March 2022 at 4:26 pm #608562Dr Paul LeylandParticipantLazyFocus still doesn’t work despite everything I have tried. The contents of the RAR file are internally inconsistent. At least I now know where to ask for more help, so thanks again.
11 March 2022 at 1:43 pm #608588Robin LeadbeaterParticipantHave the attachments been stripped from pre uplift posts ? eg
https://britastro.org/forums/topic/using-miles-stars-to-check-spectrum-quality#post-577636
Also a repeat plea for a return to full html editing and images and attachments in posts.
Cheers
Robin11 March 2022 at 9:15 pm #608592Dr Paul LeylandParticipantSecond Robin’s post of 1:43 pm.
It is a real PITA not to be able to link to posts to which I am replying.
12 March 2022 at 10:54 am #608593Callum PotterKeymasterPaul,
the message number (at right of the post header) is a hyper-link – so you can copy paste that as a link. e.g. https://britastro.org/forums/topic/new-website-feedback/page/3#post-608399
We are looking at plugins for additional forum functionality.

Ah, I thought it must be (relatively easily) possible. Thanks.
It doesn’t look like a link under Firefox (no underlining and no colour change, so I never thought of looking there. A combination of UBD and inadequate documentation perhaps.
Paul
P.S. If I can be assistance please ask.
