Noctilucent clouds were observed across the UK last night. Sightings started approximately 2 weeks ago with faint displays being observed. Last night, or rather the early hours of this morning,  a bright NLC display was observed from Penrhyn Bay. Whilst beautiful to look at it was amazing how the structure changes subtlety throughout the observation, with structures, filaments, twists and swirls changing. I have taken some images using a fujiXT2 DSLR, I took some closer images of the structures. If anyone knows how to type/ categorise the structures please feel free to assist.

    Thank you

Hi Tracey. Re NLC structure classification you could make a start via this link https://britastro.org/node/9456 .

This PDF is also a help  http://www.iaga-aiga.org/data/uploads/pdf/guides/onc.pdf

    Lovely picture.

In Salisbury we watched the rain fall – a lot. 🙂

Thank you. Such a shame to hear about the weather as it was a good display too. I am sure you will get your turn. Living next to the snowdonia mountain range, I understand the frustration with cloud and rain.
