    Hi Trevor,

Attached is the detected radio meteor activity (from GRAVES) during the Quadrantids maximum. As it turns out GRAVES was offline between 09:00 and 15:00 on the 03rd Jan but thankfully they put another few Euros in the meter in time for the forecast maximum later that night.

Obviously the geometry of the transmitter, receiver and radiant plays a part so the suggested peak in the early hours of the 04th may be misleading.

    Best regards

    William

Not really related but just a general comment about the Quadrantids. Apart from ~2 hours on the night of the 3rd Jan I saw nothing else. Caught 8 Qua’s in total on video (and none visually) in those 2 hours. Then the cloud and rain returned…

You win some, you lose some 😉

    cheers,

    Bill.

I am new to meteor detection so I appreciate the data posting. At least it looks like I am getting reasonable results. I tried the auto recording software HROFFT but the results I got did not compare with my visual analysis of the recorded echo’s.

    Hello Trevor

Interested to see your results. I attach my own (using 3-el Yagi, FCDP+, Spectrum Lab) covering the same period in 30m intervals. You will see that all three of us saw the same small uplift at around 2am.

Of course there are at least three other factors to take into account: the diurnal variation due to the rotation of the earth, the changing altitude of the radiant, and above all the changing geometry of the radiant-radar-our receivers that William mentioned. Nevertheless that 2am rise gives pause for thought. I have a lot more work to do on my data yet but will post more when I have it.
