Two further events that may interest members:-
1) (4522) Britastra occults a 9.3 mag star on 2017 Sep 22 at 2125UT – alt/az 12/204 No Moon http://ocultacions.astrosabadell.org/IBEROC/20170922_0327-1_summary.html
2) (56) Malete occults a 10.9 mag star on 2017 Sep 27 at 0300UT – alt/az 41/120 No Moon http://www.asteroidoccultation.com/2017_09/0924_56_51606.htm
Britastra track is 22Km wide and passes Brighton, Basingstoke, Swindon, Cheltenham, Worcester, N Wales, IoM
Places +/- 2 path widths may see an occultation lasting up to 3 seconds.
Malete track is 129Km wide. The predicted center line passes S Ireland, S Wales, Central England, London.
Observers South of Leeds may see an occultation of duration up to 9 seconds.
In both events, the occulted star should completely disappear (and then reappear). Timed observations with an accuracy of 0.1 to 0.2 sec (or better) are requested.
