Thank you for the link Jack.. Yes we have a Clear Sky now but within an hour or so visibility will be down to a few yards .
A Gatwick is brewing up a real Peasouper now. What ever the weather brings have a spectroscopically great Xmas
Very Best wishes
Neil
Neil MorrisonParticipantDedication rewarded. We are being spoilt with the prospect of another good Comet. A great Xmas present and the prospect of a great observing year in 2019
Neil MorrisonParticipantA fantastic set of results so much information . I will study it all at length . The late Neil Bone would have been amazed to see what can be achieved with the way data can be displayed by modern computer systems. A wonderfull data set . Congratulations
Neil MorrisonParticipantTim Peak’s Capsule is on display at Peterborough Cathedral from 11th August until Monday 5th November. Full details of the event surrounding the Exhibition is on Peterborough Cathedrals web site.
Neil MorrisonParticipantClouded out in Crawley West Sussex also. Once the media start to promote an event it is a sure fire way to conjour up a thick cloud sheet.
Neil MorrisonParticipantGood evening Dominic.I have been using a Sky Watcher Star Adventurer over the last 12 months or so. I have used it to carry a 500mm f5.5 Telescope and seems to track well . As commented already the attachment screw to the Tripod should be very very tight. With the poor weather last year not very much photography was undertaken let us hope for better in 2018.
Regards
Neil
Neil MorrisonParticipantBy a remarkable coincidence Space Weather.com is this evening is commenting on the orbit and make up of Comet 96P/Machholz1 and making a link to Comet Yanaka ( (1988;1988Y1) both being suspects as Interstellar Objects.
Nothing is quite brand new it appears
Neil MorrisonParticipantBrilliant result David. Shows what can be done with a C8 and skill. Congratulations
Neil MorrisonParticipantYesterday 15th March a clear sky after a very warm afternoon enabled a further viewing of Venus . Several images were made the attached being at 18.12 GMT. The equipment used was my C8 ( circa 1985) on a Super Polaris mount and eyepiece projection using a 20 mm Plossl. Sony 65a SLT exposure 1/30sec. Polar alingment was done by projecting the Sun’s noonday shadow and drawing a chalk reference line.
Neil MorrisonParticipantJust caught a few moments observing Venus as a very slim crescent hanging above the tree line at 18.25 gmt tonight 13th March using Venerable C8 .
Just had enough time to call my wife out to glimpse the Slim crescent before clouds intervened . Good to get even a few moments of clear evening sky .
Neil MorrisonParticipantI would not advise using any house hold product I have cleaned the corrector plate of my C8 twice in the last 30 years and used a tiny amount of Kodak Lens Cleaning fluid circa 1960. The C8 is Vintage 1987 or prior with no special coatings .If you go ahead be sure that when you replace the plate you install it back at the very same spot that it was sited upon before.
Regards
Neil
