About this image
Continuing to monitor the spectrum of nova Persei 2020 as it fades. At the time of this latest spectrum the nova was near V-magnitude 11 but with most of the emission in H alpha that is a bit misleading. The R-band magnitude (from AAVSO web site) was 10.4 which is a more useful measurement.
The nova is identified with the tick marks in the top image, with the spectrum of the same field in the lower pane. Each field is 35 x 8 arc minutes with north, and red, to the right.
Previous spectra were taken on 27th December and 20th December 2020.
