Daryl DobbsParticipant
Excellent link very interesting thank you for sharing it
Daryl DobbsParticipantInteresting article about Basil Brown, I didn’t know he passed away as recently as 1977.
Daryl DobbsParticipantVery interesting reading, and a good picture, I’ve never heard of this class of nova before. I hope you manage to get a spectra, fascinating class of object.
Daryl DobbsParticipantGood film, a few historical Inaccuracies but very good. Nice telescope while watching it I did wonder what else astronomically he did
Daryl DobbsParticipantA sad loss, I had the privilege of meeting him once and I have a cherished memory of Ron who did so much for astronomy. My condolences to his family. He will be greatly missed.
Daryl DobbsParticipantVery interesting recommendation, we are thinking of one day replacing our geriatric laptop and the dell seems to fit the bill nicely. Nice to read a review from someone who has a good experience of a piece of equipment.
Daryl DobbsParticipantI agree it certainly is a faff, took longer than I expected, now to the next step. I’m using a ASAIR V1 which I had the wifi drop out, two resets to get it back. Stood next to the scope when it happened. Tried iPhone and iPad and the app said password not recognise. since you can’t amend it the only thing is reset and hope
Daryl DobbsParticipantGot there in the end, need a shorter extension tube to the one supplied with my telescope
Daryl DobbsParticipantI live in Risca a small town in the beginning of a valley in South Wales, our local council has whole heartedly embraced the ‘cost savings’ of LED street lights which has deteriorated the skies noticeably. Cloud as been a problem but at least the Sun is waking up. Usually clear when I’m at work and cloudy when I have spare time at home Or treed out.
Ive managed to get a ZWO camera and an ASIAIR so the next task for 2021 is to get it working with my phone and iPad, then I aim to be more useful in the Lunar section.
Daryl DobbsParticipantIt’s a very interesting feature, not only by lunar standards young but the site of a suspected magnetic anomaly. Very interesting domes and a high local gravity field. the analysis of the rocks should be interesting
Daryl DobbsParticipantThe observing reports I wrote on my members page seem to be missing? Or are they somewhere I haven’t discovered yet
Daryl DobbsParticipantCongratulations to a fantastic scientist and very well deserved
Daryl DobbsParticipantIf only they had more funding it might have been save. leaves a void in radio astronomy sadly
Daryl DobbsParticipantIt was reviewed in Astronomy Now a few months back, verdict was if I remember quite good but expensive
Daryl DobbsParticipantIt’s this one;
https://www.rothervalleyoptics.co.uk/skywatcher-x2-deluxe-achromatic-barlow-lens-125.html
I suspect the RVO Barlow could be the same rebadge. The bees knees is a teleview but they are not cheap
Daryl DobbsParticipantI use a skywatcher Barlow for observing the sun and so far I find it very good, likewise the RVO Barlow from Rother Valley Optics but I suspect it’s rebadged but don’t know who makes the original
Daryl DobbsParticipantApparently using Sofia they claim to have found 12 flow per cubic meter in Claviu, seems rather a lot of molecular water
Daryl DobbsParticipantJust popped up on the BBC
Water on the Moon could sustain a lunar base https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-54666328
Bit optimistic headline
Daryl DobbsParticipantI have used a skywatcher eq3 on artificial grass which admittedly is not the most stable mount on any surface, but I didn’t find any difference between the artificial grass and concrete. I would think the weight of the Mount would more than compensate for any springyness in the grass.
Daryl DobbsParticipantClouded out in South Wales with a couple of minutes to go, very frustrating.
